Havilah's leap year proposal
2012 is a leap year and we've all heard of the tradition. Leap year is when the roles are allowed to switch and the lady has an opportunity to ask her man on a date, pay for his meal or, for those of us with enough courage, ask her man to marry her. We at Havilah would like to take our hats off our daring customer, Odette Kruger for plucking up the courage to pop the big question. Congratulations to Odette and fiancé, Andrew on their leap year engagement.
Having known each other for about 6 years, Odette felt that the leap year was the perfect opportunity to do something really special for Andrew because he does so much for her.
Andrew, who really appreciated the special gesture, said that he was surprised and blown away by the proposal. Told to be ready, then blindfolded and put into a car, ‘control freak', Andrew, couldn't stop asking questions about what the surprise was, that was in store for him that evening. Odette organised an intimate gathering at Wickerwoods' private function room on Wednesday 29 February, where close friends and family of the couple were there to share in the special occasion.
The ring that Odette proposed with was a very special one, a beautiful classic design with a stunning claw set Kimberly diamond, a family heirloom, having been the engagement ring given to Andrew's grandmother by his grandfather years ago. This ring of course, having sentimental value, was secretly brought it in to Havilah to be sized according to Andrew's finger size. Using the existing ring for the proposal was more symbolic than anything else. The diamond from this ring will be reset into a more masculine design now that the proposal has taken place.
Andrew was pleased that Odette had popped the question which took the pressure off him in organising this event. He, however, plans to be very involved in the organising of the wedding, ensuring that it is a big and beautiful affair.
The couple plan to be wed in August and preparations for the big day have already begun.
Andrew believes that the secret to a long and happy marriage is communication.
Congratulations to our very special leap year couple. We wish them a long and happy life together.
