Here is an inspiring story about a man with a real entrepreneurial spirit in Port Elizabeth Walmer area named Patrick.

A good couple of months ago a very polite gentleman started coming around to Havilah begging for left over food so whenever any of us at work had supper left over from the previous night, or left over lunch we’d bring it for Patrick who always received it with a very grateful heart.

A few weeks later he started offering to wash cars for some cash which we completely encouraged and allowed him to use this opportunity to make some money for himself by washing our cars here at Havilah initially using our soap and buckets etc.

I must add that he does a superb job of washing our cars!

After a few weeks of washing cars here, he had made some extra cash and went and bought himself his own bucket, sponges and car washing soap to start up his very own little ‘business’ of washing cars around the Walmer area.

Starting to feel the spirit of Spring we felt we needed to replace the dying flowers in our pots here with some bright new ones - a good opportunity for Patrick we thought.

So yesterday with a little guidance, he managed to do a good job or replanting our pots.

The whole team of us at Havilah were moved by his enthusiasm so Havilah went ahead and bought him a few small gardening tools and a printed vest to equip him to offer this service to other businesses in the area.
